Every fall our social media feeds are filled with charming pictures of families and influencers alike making the annual pilgrimage to the pumpkin patch. Those are quickly followed with shots of creatively carved jack-o'-lanterns populating porches and front steps. But come November 1st our pumpkin love affair abruptly ends. Sadly, I believe we are all missing out on the best part of the pumpkin experience...smashing them!
It is hard to put into words the excitement and satisfaction one can feel from raising an orange orb over their head and crashing it down on the pavement. It is seriously fun. It can be even more fun when you get your kids and/or friends involved as potential targets.
I recently read an article about the Oregon Zoo and its annual “Squishing of the Squash” event. They bring in huge, sometimes 1,200 pound, pumpkins and roll them into the elephant enclosure. The elephants enjoy eating the squash, but even more stomping, smashing, and playing with them. They roll them around playfully and the whole elephant family participates in the fun. How cool is that? These massive land mammals know how to have a good time.
So this year don't miss out on your own opportunity to get messy and get smashing! Share your own unique experience and images at #prioritizefun.
